Original old pub and hotel with popular restaurant Regency59 offering both Welsh dishes and Nepalese food. Our room was accessible through the pub and up a flight of stairs which can be a challenge with heavy luggage as there is no lift. Our bags were taken up for us and we managed to drag them down. I am sure if we had asked we would have received help. The staff were all friendly and went out of their way to make the start to our holiday special. They went above and beyond when I dropped my credit card wallet in the taxi they had organised to take us to the station for the next phase of our trip. Unable to contact us by phone they sent a message through booking.com alerting us and we were able to get back to Abergavenny and the driver from Terry’s Taxis met us at the station three hours later and kindly returned the wallet all safe and sound. The hotel is so handy to all the places of interest in Abergavenny, next door to the the old markets which operate four days a week and lots of coffee shops and restaurants to meet all needs. Loved exploring the winding streets and capturing wonderful streetscapes. Don’t miss St Mary’s Priory Church and the Tithe Barn next door with it’s wonderful tapestry made by the local community depicting a 1000years of Abergavenny history.

First must say all staff bar none were superb, what ever you needed help with they were there to help in there friendly homely manner which to me was just them being them, fantastic. Breakfast was freshly cooked, you might have to wait for it but I’d rather wait for a freshly cooked meal than have reheated food 🤷‍♂️ We also had a Sunday lunch at the restaurant which yet again was lovely and at a very reasonable price. The rooms you see advertised are what you get, very clean and comfortable. Only down thing for us was waiting for hot water to have a shower but come on this is the same in many a hotel and isn’t a major problem. I would definitely recommend this hotel to one and all.

The room was very comfortable. I like the individual heating so you could have it just as warm as was comfortable. The bed was extremely comfortable. The staff were very kind and helpful. Dinner in the restaurant downstairs was an excellent and breakfast freshly cooked none of these stay warm under the lamp. We also like the quaint traditional style of the building full of character. The hotel is in the high street in the centre of town but as it is pedestrian there was no car noise and everything was very convenient.

The hotel was really clean and had everything you need for a short stay. It was super cosy and warm which was lovely as it was such a cold weekend! Qe had curry in their restaurant downstairs which was one of the best curries we’ve both had. We had breakfast included and it was really delicious with generous portion sizes. We also spent the evening in the pub underneath the hotel which was also great fun. We liked everything about this hotel and couldn’t recommend it enough!

Isabelle

The pub itself was nice. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. Breakfast was lovely. Our room was a lot bigger than the other two rooms we had, but all decent sizes. Two of our rooms were near each other but the third was on a different floor. Still, we enjoyed our stay and would stay again.
